I’m fundraising for the charity Sands!

This year I'm taking part in My Marathon My Way to raise vital funds for Sands during this incredibly difficult time.

In these uncertain times, the Sands helpline and online community are vital in keeping bereaved families connected by offering a safe, confidential and compassionate space to talk.

The NHS is stretched and Sands are there to support with the various emotional needs bereaved parents and families have day to day, which can be heightened in such uncertain times.

Sands is not immune from the effects of this pandemic so I’m taking on My Marathon My Way to save lives with every mile.

My way will be 6km each day for a week. At the start of this year I couldn’t run 1km. Now I’ve managed to build up to 2 5km a week, so this will be a challenge. Please sponsor this excellent cause.

My Updates

Finish delayed due to injury

Friday 1st May
So I tried my final run last Sunday, but my knee was too painful to run. I left it for a few more days and did a run on Wednesday, but I only managed 5km not 8km Due to my knee. So when my Strava updates, I think I’m still a bit of the marathon distance. I’ll finish this weekend.

Day 5 completed successfully

Saturday 25th Apr
I’ve added another 8km to the distance this morning, so one more run to go tomorrow to finish the distance.

Day 4 - rest day

Friday 24th Apr
I have treated my legs to a day off today to let them recover a bit. Next run tomorrow.

Day 3 completed successfully

Thursday 23rd Apr
Today I pushed myself to do my longest ever run of 11km. My legs hurt today, so I pushed the distance so I can have a day off tomorrow and let my legs recover for the weekend to finish the challenge. 27km done. 15km left to do.

Day 2 completed successfully

Wednesday 22nd Apr
This mornings run was a fair bit harder as knees are starting to ache, so the rest of the week will be fun.

Day 1 of my challenge was successful.

Tuesday 21st Apr
I’ve managed to put 8km down for day 1. Hopefully I can keep that up and finish the marathon in 5 days. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored Sands so far. I did not expect to exceed £100 before even starting.

A little bit of training required

Sunday 19th Apr
Heading out for a morning run to see how far I can do.

Thank you to my Sponsors
