I’m fundraising for the charity Sands!

This year I'm taking part in My Marathon My Way to raise vital funds for Sands during this incredibly difficult time.

In these uncertain times, the Sands helpline and online community are vital in keeping bereaved families connected by offering a safe, confidential and compassionate space to talk.

The NHS is stretched and Sands are there to support with the various emotional needs bereaved parents and families have day to day, which can be heightened in such uncertain times.

Sands is not immune from the effects of this pandemic so I’m taking on My Marathon My Way to save lives with every mile.

Hi Everyone!
Instagram @dear.saoirse

I am Saoirse's Mummy and I have started this fundraising with my husband Conor. Sadly we lost our little girl and she was stillborn at 20 weeks and 4 days but we wanted something good to come out of it. Sands have helped support us along with our family. We are extremely fortunate to have such a supportive family and many of them have been either directly affected or indirectly affected by the loss of a child. However there are many people who are not as fortunate and Sands has been and continues to be a huge help to those ones.

Sands purpose is "to support anyone affected by the death of a baby. To work in partnership with healthcare professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care. To promote improvements in practice and fund research to help reduce the number of babies dying."

For us its not only to create awareness but to help provide the funds so Sands can continue to research infant deaths and help improve hospital practice so less and less families have to deal with the bereavement of a child due to being stillborn or neonatal death.

We thank you in advance for your donation and please follow @dear.saoirse on instagram to follow our progress!
